Equipoising means seeking balance; this body of work was a deep investigation of the relationship between painting and glass in my practice. My artistic journey began in painting, pivoted to glass, and has come full circle back to painting. The relationship between object and display is also considered, with paintings and glass physically attached to the walls or pedestals.
The paintings are from images of plastic and glass sculpture I have created, stripping down line and stroke to their most essential forms while generating a visual vocabulary which becomes self-referential. A new series of paintings will emerge from these images.
